Not quite “the pirate with a blade to a child’s neck”, but just as despicable.
Depicting the JTA pushing the child out with a “We Want Pay Hike” sign, is yet another example of the paper’s bias for the guvament. The guvament that already agreed to the pay hike, but were too coward sign a statement saying they did agree to it.
Why must teachers continue to suffer with the pittance they getting?
No wonder so much of them a run go a foreign.
So it was already decided that public sector teachers would be paid 80% of what those in the private sector gets.
Ok.
The guvament is unable to pay it over now.
Ok.
The Jamaica Teacher’s Association said: “Since you can’t pay it now, just sign and IOU.” (me simplifying the language).
Ok.
Now the guvament want them to renegotiate the entire thing?
WTF?!?
Why can’t the guvament keep its promises?
I fully understand not being able to pay the teachers now, but the pay increase was already negotiated and agreed on, why dem want to change it all now?
Recently, Audley was bragging about how the tax amnesty was raking in the taxes and how the record numbers collected made it a success, 16B the teachers supposed to get, guess how much the tax amnesty bring in?
Now i am not going to say that it all should go to the teachers, but since you collecting more than ever through this amnesty program, then wanting to re-do the deal is really shittty.
Hard to believe what Dwight and the other former trade unionists now in guvament have totally abandoned the same causes they once championed.
Sad.
So now with the teachers threatening industrial action, I am sure that Butch’s Bitch will publish a cartoon with the JTA holding a knife to some child’s throat.
Or something like that.

I suppose I should be relieved that this time they are not depicted holding a blade to a child’s throat.
Clovis, the cartoonist, was once universally respected by all. Even some of the stinging cartoons ridiculing the political parties did not insult the readers. Now however, he seems to be merely parroting the views of the Observer chairman, who is now staunchly pro JLP. To the point, that rather than pour scorn on the disgraceful pronouncements branding our nation’s educators as extortionists, have instead sided with the Bruce and continues to do so almost daily.
Clovis must really need to eat a food.
